IN THE HOME - Make Money Matter | Shop Cheyenne River
In addition to promoting financial literacy throughout the Reservation, the Making Waves program also encourages residents to support Cheyenne River businesses by purchasing goods and services locally. Supporting local businesses, and “buying at home” first, will create a positive ripple effect; money generating throughout reservation communities will lead to stronger economies, better jobs and more opportunities for everyone. Shop Cheyenne River Program Goal: Project partners work together to change 4 policies or practices on the Reservation that expand entrepreneurship. Help us reach our goal! Consider the following Shop Cheyenne River activities in your business or home. 1) Challenge employers to promote the Shop Cheyenne River portion of the Making Waves program to: a) a) Promote local businesses by offering coupons or gift certificates for local businesses as incentives to consumers and staff b) Encourage individuals/organizations to make commitments to see if a good or service is available locally at a competitive price c) Persuade consumers/staff to participate on a “secret shopper” task force to identify ways for local businesses to improve their customer service, atmosphere, signage, etc. and provide feedback to each business 2) Challenge employers to support a Shop Cheyenne River promotion for families to: a) Encourage staff and consumers to commit to shopping Cheyenne River businesses by signing pledge cards b) Promote educational information about the program to staff and consumers via mail or e-marketing c) Encourage family-oriented Making Waves activities by participating in them, encouraging employees to participate and distributing information about activities |
